One Day Coimbatore Trip from Bangalore | Budget Travel Itinerary Under ₹1,500
How to Plan a One Day Coimbatore Trip from Bangalore Under ₹1,500
Travelling doesn’t always need a long holiday. Sometimes, even a single day can give you unforgettable memories. Recently, I went on a solo budget trip from Bangalore to Coimbatore, and in just 24 hours, I explored temples, tasted local food, and even tried the viral Kabali dosai kadai. Here’s my Coimbatore itinerary in 1 day – step by step – so you too can plan your own affordable adventure
Day 1: Overnight Train from Bangalore to Coimbatore
I started my journey on Saturday night by catching the LTT–CBE Express from KSR Bangalore City Junction at 9:15 pm. I booked a sleeper coach, which gave me proper rest during the journey.
Departure: Bangalore at 9:15 pm
Arrival: Coimbatore at 6:50 am (next day)
Morning at Gandhipuram Bus Stand
After reaching Coimbatore railway station, I took a local bus to Gandhipuram bus stand, just 2 km away. It’s the main hub for buses to tourist spots.
At 7:30 am, I freshened up, had a cup of tea, and got ready for my first destination – the famous Isha Yoga Center.
Visiting Isha Temple & Adiyogi Statue
How to Reach Isha Temple from Gandhipuram
From Gandhipuram, buses to Isha Temple start as early as 5:50 am. I boarded the 8:15 am bus, and in about an hour, I reached the spiritual destination.
Travel Time: 1 hour
Fare: ₹40 approx
My Experience at Isha
I started with meditation at Dhyanalinga, which calmed my mind completely. Then I visited the massive Adiyogi Shiva statue – truly breathtaking. My favourite part was entering the Suryakund – the holy, energised water pool. It was cool, refreshing, and unforgettable.
By 12:30 pm, I returned to Gandhipuram bus stand.
Healthy Lunch at Gandhipuram Bus Stand
Instead of going to a restaurant, I tried the traditional ragi koozh and kambu koozh sold at Gandhipuram bus stand.
For just ₹25 per mug, I got unlimited side dishes like chutney, pickles, papads, and mango pieces. Two mugs cost me only ₹50 – one of the best budget-friendly meals in Coimbatore.
Afternoon Visit to Marudhamalai Temple in Coimbatore
At 1:40 pm, I took a bus towards Marudhamalai Temple, a must-visit shrine of Lord Muruga located just 13 km away.
Travel Time: 30 minutes
Steps to Climb: Around 900 (but easy)
Entry Fee: Free
I reached by 3:30 pm, and luckily, the temple was not crowded. The peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by the Western Ghats, made this visit truly divine.
Trying Bahubali Dosa – Famous Street Food in Coimbatore
After returning to Gandhipuram at 7:20 pm, my next stop was the viral Kabali Dosa Kadai near Lakshmi Mills bus stop (just 3 km away).
At around 8:00 pm, I tasted their famous Bahubali Dosa for ₹130. The taste was just amazing and worth the hype.
Night Shopping at Lulu Hypermarket Coimbatore
Since Lulu Hypermarket was nearby, I spent some time there before heading back. The ambience was modern and lively – a nice way to end the day.
Return to Bangalore
At 10:30 pm, I boarded a non-AC sleeper bus from Gandhipuram back to Bangalore. The ticket cost ₹650, and I reached home by 6 am the next day – refreshed and happy.
